South America Bareboats
Bare-boating in South America is presently limited to the islands in the small archipelago close to Angra dos Reis in Brazil. Angra is located in the State of Rio de Janeiro just south of the city of that name. Angra is an unbelievable destination with crystal clear waters, little bays and coves and a bunch of small islands and beaches.
Bare-boating in Brazil requires a formal sailing certification from your home country. Whether this be a captains license from the US Coast Guard, ASA certifications, or various European equivalents. These must be presented to the Brazilian authorities prior to booking your charter.
You can still enjoy Angra if you do not have a formal certification, we’ll simply arrange for a Brazilian skipper to accompany you on your charter, it’ll be useful to have him along anyway, since the waters are shallow, rocky and some local knowledge is always useful.
We, of course have access to the major bare-boating operators in Angra and can arrange the whole process. Just call us or contact us via email or the contact form on this page.
